Venue Spotlight: Lyrebird, Queensland Performing Arts Centre

A reimagined classic within Brisbane’s cultural heart, Lyrebird at Queensland Performing Arts Centre (QPAC) pairs the theatre of dining with the poise of design. Recently refreshed with a new look and menu, the restaurant once again stands as one of Brisbane’s most refined pre-performance destinations.

Lighting and Design in Brisbane’s Iconic QPAC

Set within Robin Gibson’s celebrated brutalist architecture, the updated interiors soften concrete with warm materials, layered textures, and an inviting sense of calm. The redesign introduces soft drapery, rich finishes, and ambient light — balancing structure and intimacy while creating an atmosphere that feels both timeless and distinctly local.

At the centre of this transformation is the NEOZ Cooee 2C cordless lamp in sandblasted bronze. Its subtle metallic tone and diffused glow bring a gentle warmth to the restaurant’s timber and leather palette, adding quiet refinement without distraction. Practical and beautiful, the Cooee 2C’s rechargeable cordless design ensures seamless service throughout each evening.

Lyrebird’s interior also celebrates Australian creativity, featuring artworks by Michael Nelson Jagamara, Gloria Petyarre, and Joanne Currie Nalingu. These pieces ground the experience in Queensland’s natural landscape — stories of river, land, and sky that connect guests to place.

Outdoor Dining Meets Cordless Lighting at Lyrebird Alfresco

Opening soon, Lyrebird Alfresco will extend this atmosphere beyond the restaurant walls, illuminated by NEOZ Piccolo waterproof table lamps in brushed bronze. Alongside furniture from Made by Tait and fabrics by Willie Weston, designed in collaboration with First Nations artists, the space continues Lyrebird’s dialogue between design, culture, and hospitality.

Refined yet grounded, Lyrebird’s renewed setting reflects QPAC’s enduring vision — where performance and place come together, and light sets the stage for the experience to follow.

Lyrebird is located on the ground floor of the Queensland Performing Arts Centre in South Brisbane. Reserve your table at qpac.com.au.
